In our on-going quest to find the ?ultimate burger? this month we visited Red Robin. A new American restaurant located just across from the Southpoint shopping center in Fredericksburg, VA.

Red Robin provides patrons with a pleasant alternative to what seems like an abundance of ?cookie cutter ? establishments popping up in the Fredericksburg area.

Entering Red Robin, my initial thoughts were ?nice but not overwhelming ?. The decor is comparable to any Tuesdays or Fridays restaurant (I did say this wasn?t a cookie cutter), comfortable none the less.

After being seated and reviewing the menu I was somewhat surprised to see soups, salads, and entrees other than burgers (I guess all restaurants provide the healthy choices alternative these days).

But we?re in Red Robin, so of course when in a burger joint??. yeah

After combing through there 20 or so choices I finally decided on the Whiskey River BBQ Burger, garlic fries, and malt shake. Whiskey River being the BBQ topping along with cheddar, crispy onion straws, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Yes, against my better judgment I held off on the bacon (Did I mention my wife came with me).

After placing my order, my burger was at the table and ready for consumption in 10 minutes and based on the taste it could?ve taken another 10 minutes and that would?ve been fine!

The burger was as I requested and tasted heavenly. My garlic fries were seasoned perfectly (mines never come out like that) and the shake wasn?t bad either. The wife had the Blue Ribbon Burger which was something to write home about as well.

I haven?t been writing reviews long but I?ve had my share of burgers in my day. As so I would consider myself ?somewhat? of a connoisseur and I must say that on my burger scale this one ranks right up there with some of the best.

And although the portions are ample, I didn?t leave feeling ?over-stuffed? and glutinous.

The service was great, as it should?ve been during the middle of the weekday. And the waitress came by enough to assist and not annoy. The manager even stopped by to make sure we were comfortable.

There are also unlimited free refills on fries, and for under $10 per person can you say appetizing and affordable.

Overall we?re giving this restaurant 3 1/2 out of 4 Rating, making Red Robin is a win-win!
